🥔 Golden Wonder is a traditional late maincrop potato variety, cherished especially in Ireland and the UK for its exceptionally floury texture and rich flavor.
🌿 Key Characteristics
- Skin: Rough, russet-toned, firm—definitely needs peeling for most uses
- Flesh: Pale cream to light yellow, very dry and fluffy when cooked
- Shape: Oval to long with shallow to medium eyes
- Flavor: Intensely rich and improves with storage over a few weeks

- Roasting & Chipping: Excellent results thanks to its dry texture
- Boiling: Can fall apart easily—requires careful timing or steaming instead
