🌿 Origin & History

  • Developed in England by Thomas Francis Rivers in the 19th century.
  • Named after the National Pear Conference in 1885, where it won first prize.
  • One of the most widely grown pear varieties in the UK and Europe.

🍐 Appearance & Texture

  • Shape: Slender, elongated “bottle-like” form with a bulbous base and narrow neck.
  • Skin: Thick, greenish-brown with russeting; turns pale yellow when ripe.
  • Flesh: Creamy white to ivory, fine-grained and juicy.
